Welcome to the website of our Department for Otorhinolaryngology, Head- and Neck Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Voice- and Speech-dysfunctions. We would like to give you a brief survey of our hospital, our services and our staff also in English.

Our services

Our department was founded in 1984. Its long name expresses the wide variety of our offered services regarding diagnostics as well as conservative and surgical treatment of any ear- nose and throat disease including congenital and acquired voice-, speech-, and hearing disorders. We offer all basic operations of our specialty such as adenotomies, tonsillectomies and septoplasties. Our department has an additional emphasis on:

Improvement of hearing power by performing microsurgery on the middle-ear (e.g. in patients with otosclerosis)
Implantable hearing-aids such as bone anchored hearing-aids (BAHA®) and the implantable Vibrant Soundbridge®
Bone anchored artificial replacements
Treatment of Menière’s disease with Gentamicin and saccotomy
Navigation-assisted „powered“ microscopic-endoscopic functional endonasal sinus surgery (FESS)
Repairing of defects of the nasal septum
Reconstructing- and plastic surgery e.g. correction of the nose or the eye-lid
Minimal invasive surgery of the tear duct
Preserving and rehabilitating cancer-surgery using minimal invasive microscopic laser-techniques
Rehabilitation of voice after surgical resection of the larynx either by implantation of voice-replacements or by reconstruction with so called larynx-replacement plasties using free skin flaps, the vessels of which are micro-surgically connected to big neck-vessels
Phono-surgery (surgical treatment of voice-dysfunctions)
Surgical treatment of the thyroid gland using electronic nerve monitoring providing additional safety for larynx nerves
Treatment of problems with swallowing e.g. by endoscopic operations of a so called hypopharynx diverticulum (Zenker’s Diverticulum)
Surgery on the salivary glands using electronic nerve monitoring providing additional safety for the facial nerve
Diagnostics and treatment of snoring and irregular breathing during sleep

Out Patient Clinics

In our new ENT-Out patient clinic all modern equipment and examination methods for diagnostics of ear-, nose-, and throat diseases are at our disposal.
Our opening hours are Tuesday to Friday from 10 to 11:30 am or according to individual agreements.
Emergencies are treated 24 hours a day.
For certain diseases and questions we offer special Out Patient Clinics in order to be able to deal with your needs individually. This mainly applies to the follow-up after cancer treatment, ear operations and plastic surgery. We have a strong multidisciplinary approach concerning cancer diseases (Oncology, Radiotherapy, Radiology) in order to provide optimal medical care.

In-patient treatment

On our wards you are accommodated in single or double rooms with elevated equipment and care. The nursing staff is highly qualified and multilingual.

Staff

All our doctors speak English.
The head of the department, Mr. Neumann PhD, is specialist for Otolaryngology, Voice- and Speech-dysfunctions, plastic surgery and special ENT-Surgery. He is member of a number of international societies, editor and reviewer of scientific magazines and author of numerous publications.
The other consultants and the junior doctors are highly qualified as well. They take part in courses regularly and act as tutors in courses for medical students, nursing students and colleagues.
